Arabic calligraphy is one of the most beautiful artistic forms created by human hands. This art form was widely used by the Arabs to embellish, adorn, and enhance architectural works.
There are different types of calligraphy and each must follow very specific rules.
Arabic calligraphy is the art of writing the Arabic alphabet; it is considered a sacred and mystical art and also a form of meditation and relaxation. It helps us understand ourselves and learn patience, calmness, and concentration.
It is a sacred art par excellence, requiring the copyist to compose under direct divine inspiration. It is therefore an art developed primarily within Sufism, where the calligrapher, in addition to technical, formal, and artistic teachings, also follows an internal discipline under the guidance of a master.
BIOGRAPHY
Crafted with a few traditional tools—a bamboo quill, ink, and parchment—this age-old art transforms and brings letters, words, and poems to life. Amjed Rifaie is one of the very few masters to spread it in Europe. Originally from Iraq but living in Italy for years, he has taught Arabic calligraphy at universities and schools, making it a true way of life.
